ABOUT ME

I trained as beauty therapist in Chichester, West Sussex, over 20 years ago. Straight after qualifying I came to London to work with a talented group of therapists at Pimlico’s Dolphin Square Health Club. Here I honed my skills in bodywork, trained in Aromatherapy with I.T.H.M.A and then set up business at No.1 Cadogan Gardens, SW3, specialising in Massage Therapy and Aromatherapy.

I went on to work in some of London’s most exclusive health clubs, and worked on the aches and pains of stars from the worlds of film, music and sport. During this time I also studied with Suzanne Yates at Well Mother, enabling me to specialise in Pregnancy Massage. I have, in addition, qualifications in Reiki and Indian Head Massage, skills that I use to enhance my treatments.

Since then I have had two beautiful daughters, and continue to work part time visiting my wonderful clients in their homes. I can travel to you anywhere in Central, Southwest London, and Surrey.

Suzanne Gilbey is excellent at locating your trouble spots and ironing them out. No wishy washy back-stroking here – this is about intelligent and therapeutic massage that leaves you feeling lighter and longer, really kneading those bunched muscles and helping to reduce swelling and tension.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Supporting women throughout their pregnancy is a real joy. Massage helps you to relax, re energise, and prepare for birth whilst looking after yourself. A time to call massage essential!  I work on a contoured body cushion that enables you to lie face down, with the belly fully supported, which then enables me to massage you thoroughly. The cushion grows and treatment adapts as your pregnancy progresses so I can treat you from your first trimester until the moment you give birth.

To compliment your massage I can also advise you on specific exercise and stretches, helping you to be proactive in your pregnancy care. Additionally I am able teach your partner how to massage you during labour, giving them a very positive supporting role. After the baby has been born massage treatment is still beneficial. Using philosophies from eastern medicine it can help to restore energy after birth, and release muscle groups that have become tight from carrying the baby. I can also help support you as you breast feed, easing away tension commonly held in the upper body and shoulders.

Finding a really good masseur who is willing to undertake home visits can be surprisingly difficult. One of the best we’ve recently come across in London is Suzanne Gilbey. She is an aromatherapy, holistic and therapeutic masseur practising at No 1 Synergie, (Cadogan Gardens). She is described by one client as “undoubtedly having a gift”.
